A full-time single mother to two sons while in school, she graduated from the University of Denver, focusing her studies on family, juvenile, and estate law — the overlapping realities of parenting and law. She served in the Boulder County District Attorney's Office, Larimer County Domestic Courts, and the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center, and as a pro bono guardian ad litem for abused and delinquent children.
She is a certified Child & Family Investigator and a mediator, has supported new mothers as a La Leche League Leader, and remains an advocate of attachment and natural parenting. Her two sons are now both in college.
